Spirit Serenade over Loki’s Peak — timelapse clouds over Kootenay Lake

The longer I live in the Kootenays, the more I love it. Here are some views of winter coming down the mountains and the secret dealings of spirits over Loki’s peak from my hidden beach on Kootenay Lake.

Music is “Dreamy Cybernetic” by the artist ‘Re-Horakhty’ from the album ‘Under the Moss”.

an Autumn Drive around Blaylock’s Mansion on the North Shore

It’s quite a show when all the leaves turn golden, red and orange in a classic Kootenay Autumn!

Music created by Romulus at 2ACCESS.

Pictured here is a quick drive around Blaylock’s Mansion on the North Shore of Kootenay Lake about a five minute drive past the Orange Bridge in Nelson BC Canada. Blaylock’s Mansion has a variety of interesting trees which makes for an explosion of vibrant colours in this movie.

“Impressive chiseled granite walls and wrought iron gates mark the entrance to the 13 acres of Blaylock estate. This property is an arboretum with grounds that are beautiful, lending peace of mind, with the elaborate mature rock gardens and cascading waterfalls, fountains, still ponds, and hidden pathways.” Blaylock’s History

Random iPhone 4 Scenes of Nelson BC Canada

The iPhone 4 is such an amazing device.. so much power and versatility in a small little package! My favourite feature is the HD movie recorder — sometimes I see something noteworthy and I take a little movie of it using my iPhone 4.

The music in this movie is “Jungle” made by Romulus of 2ACCESS

This video is a collection of random scenes from in and around Nelson BC in the country of Canada during this past year (2011):

  • sunlight ripples over underwater rocks (tilt up to autumn forest and blue sky)
  • toyota forklift pushes a cube of 3/8″ plywood into a storage bin
  • chemically enhanced fire burns brightly in the darkness
  • restored classic muscle car with blue paint and sparkling chrome

Occupy Nelson Protest Signs and Street Interviews

As promised, on Sunday afternoon I paid a visit to the City Hall and Court House in Nelson BC Canada with a better video camera to find out more about the local “Occupy Nelson” movement:

Music is “Napalese Sun” by Ishq

This video has lots of protest signs to read and some interviews with street people talking about their personal views on the occupy demonstration.

Occupy Nelson Demonstrators Wave Signs and Beat on Drums

Looks like the Occupy Wall Street movement has arrived in Nelson BC Canada:

I ran into this marching demonstration during lunch today and recorded a fragment of the parade using my iPhone 4.

Could be interesting to see how this unfolds.. I’ll try to get some smoother footage of the protest at the town court house using one of my better cameras tomorrow.

Vesta Spins to the Dawn Chorus (views from outer space)

There is a special folder I use to save bits of historical footage you probably never saw. Every once in a rare while, I make a random movie out of this black detritus and today you get to take a spin on Vesta to the Dawn Chorus..

Music is “Dawn Chorus” by Boards of Canada

This movie contains footage from four different films:

1.) a flight over Vesta by the Dawn Mission probe in the asteroid belt
2.) weather balloon explodes in slow motion at high earth altitude
3.) the Sun spits plasma from a series of sunspots
4.) the International Space Station flies over Earth during a solar storm

My favourite part is the view of Earth’s green energy shield at 2:22

Gratitude to NASA, SpaceWeather.com and Boards of Canada.
